SIMONT BRAUN counts among its partners two lawyers admitted to the Court of Cassation bar, and also a former President of the Court of Cassation bar. In addition, SIMONT BRAUN is renowned for having a long-standing practical experience of certain particular proceedings before higher jurisdictions such as the Supreme Administrative Court, the Benelux Court and the European Court of Justice. The firm also has specific experience of national and international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, as well as criminal business law.
 
These various areas are dealt with by the specialist team of SIMONT BRAUN’s Dispute Resolution practice. The team comprises eighteen lawyers, including several leading practitioners among which the former President of the Court of Cassation bar, Lucien Simont, and two current Court of Cassation lawyers: Lucien Simont, Paul Alain Foriers and Caroline De Baets.
 
Litigation is also a centre of focus within the  other teams of SIMONT BRAUN. All our lawyers indeed have particular expertise in litigation within their own areas of specialism. This is the case for intellectual property (seizures, piracy actions, injunctions in relation to intellectual rights, etc.); in the field of company law, financial law and tax law, as well as real estate and administrative law. Our lawyers act before Belgian courts at all levels of jurisdiction for civil and commercial matters, but also in particular proceedings such as administrative matters or special proceedings (appeals in relation to the registration of trademarks or services, financial institutions and stock exchange regulations, takeover bids, control of concentrations, gas and electricity regulation, etc.). Our lawyers also represent clients before the Court of Cassation, the Supreme Administrative Court, the Benelux Court and the European Court of Justice.
 
SIMONT BRAUN also has expertise in national and international arbitration proceedings, our lawyers acting as counsel or arbitrators. Our firm has two mediators registered at the “Commission Fédérale Mediation”: they are regularly involved in mediation cases, including under the aegis of the Belgian Chamber of Conciliation, Arbitration, Mediation in Real Estate Matters (C.C.A.I.).
 
The fact that two of its partners are members of the Belgian Court of Cassation bar (Paul Alain Foriers and Caroline De Baets) and the presence of a former President of the Court of Cassation bar (Lucien Simont), together with a team of  other specialist lawyers, enable SIMONT BRAUN to defend its clients’ interests at all court levels. Their in-depth knowledge of the case-law of the Court of Cassation also proves to be a considerable asset, when it comes to proceedings on the merits before all Belgian courts.
